Prominent methods of t-shirt printing

When you want to have printed t shirts, you always want to ensure that the design on your t shirt should be in the way you want to have. There might be several questions regarding printing t shirt comes to your mind such as do you want to have bright or dull colors to your t shirt or what should be the quality of the ink used etc. When thinking of these questions, you should have a bit of awareness about the process of t shirt printing to see which one suits your needs and requirements. Below are the few most familiar methods used to print t-shirts.
Screen Printing
A screen basically made up of finely woven fabric extended over a frame of aluminum or wood. This process is originated in China and now being widely used all over the world. Using this process, we transfer the design onto a piece of cloth, paper, poster, billboard or flyer. During this process, the ink is placed directly on the screen and design is hard-pressed against the t shirt.
Screen printing methodology is quick, easy and cost effective. However, while printing multi-colors t shirts it's not as much effective and quick as in this case each color needs separate screen. It is also quite messy at the end of the day when you finished with the printing and wash the screen as it takes lots of your precious time to clean it properly.
Direct to Garment Printing (DTG)
Direct to Garment Printing is a process that prints an image directly onto t-shirt through a modified version of a conventional inkjet. In this process, instead of using a screen and stencil to print an image to your shirt, the ink is printed directly on the garment. If you want to have multi colors on to your t-shirt, than DTG offers more efficiency than screen printing in terms of color variations.
Heat Transfer Printing
During this process the ink is supplied on a carrier paper and then to the t-shirt. The ink is printed onto the t-shirt when heat and force applied to the carrier paper. A common method that is widely being used during heat transfer process is by applying an iron to the carrier paper for a period of time until the ink display on the t-shirt.
